STSM start and end date: 11/9/2021 to 27/9/2021
Grantee name: Svetluša Surova (Bratislava Policy Institute, Bratislava, Slovakia)
Host institution: Glasgow University, Glasgow, United Kingdom
Svetluša Surova: “The purpose of my STSM at Glasgow University was to incent meaningful collaborative research projects with Professor David Smith, which we already talked about at the 1st ENTAN conference that took place in Belgrade. It was a very intensive but fruitful research stay. Although, I must admit that not getting access to the university library was very unfortunate. Nevertheless, during this short scientific mission, I have consulted Professor Smith on my previous research on collective identification of the Slovak minority in Serbia and ongoing research on the political participation of national minorities in Serbia and quarantining of Roma settlements during the COVID-19 pandemic in Slovakia. I have conducted an expert interview with Professor Smith on minority issues for the Critical Magazine Minority policy in Slovakia. During this STSM, I have written also a project proposal on enhancing the political participation of national minorities in Serbia and Kosovo and applied for funding. Sincere thanks go to my host professor Smith and to ENTAN for awarding me the STSM grant. It was a great opportunity for scientific exchange and collaboration.”
